Protection of staff

The BATTERY line safety storage cabinets are specially constructed for the high demands on a safe storing and charging of lithium-ion batteries which could catch fire in the event of malfunctions.

The innovation in preventive fire protection

In case of a fire inside or outside of the safety storage cabinet, separate thermocouples on the top at the internal cabinet wall and for each storage shelf automatically initiate the closing of the doors.

Protection from backdrafts

After automatic closing of the doors and locking in the event of fire, e.g. through self-igniting of lithium-ion batteries, they can only be unlocked by authorised experts.

Clever assistance system Smart Control with touch display and sensors

With clever assistance system Smart Control temperature probes can be used as early warning systems to detect a temperature increase inside the cabinet, e.g. threshold value to find out irregularities.

Preventive risk management up to 100%

Additionally of monitoring the door status, ventilation and temperature by sensors, fault notification via SMS, e.g. to fire department and responsible persons and individual connection to a fire alarm system possible.

WHY A SAFE STORAGE IS NECESSARY

THE HAZARD POTENTIAL

Hazardous release:
  • Mechanical damage, e.g. by stroke or drop
  • Electrical faults, e.g. short circuit, deep discharge, defects in battery management
  • Thermal influences, e.g. internal overheating, thermal radiation from outside over > 60°C [140 °F]
Resulting hazards - risks:
  • Fire, metal fire, e.g. from 60° C a thermal runaway is possible
  • Explosion, e.g. from 80° C oxyhydrogen explosion and release of 7- up to 11-times higher energy as the stored energy
  • Environmental pollution of water and air, e. g. chemical contamination by fumes, toxic heavy metal, fluorhydric acid

Fire resistance of 90 minutes and protection against backdrafts

Type 90 DÜPERTHAL safety storage cabinets offer fire resistance of 90 minutes – enough time to evacuate the building and a safe buffer for firefighting to commence. An absolutely new feature of the BATTERY line is its reaction towards fires originating inside the cabinet. This automatically closes and locks the cabinet doors to prevent your employees from opening them and potentially causing a backdraft. Only authorised persons and experts of the fire brigade can unlock the doors.

With Smart Control and the right choice of sensors, processes can be efficiently optimised and the level of prevention adapted to individual requirements.

Sensors - always the right pulse generator

Every operator is responsible for the safety of users and their activities along the entire internal process chain. Reliable sensors for monitoring the operational status are a fundamental requirement here. The example applications shown here can individually adapted to your requirements:

Temperature monitoring

For storage of substances for which self-ignition cannot entirely be ruled out, e.g. lithium ion batteries, temperature sensors are recommended for prevention. These act as an early warning system for detection of thermal events in the cabinet interior.

Ventilation monitoring

Particularly when charging batteris, the exhaust function must be continuously (24/7) in operation and monitored to prevent any accumulated heat energy inside the cabinet.

Door status

The doors of safety storage cabinets must be kept closed after use, this applies especially, if the properties of the stored material bears any safety risks. This sensor can provide an easy way to monitor the status of the door (open/closed).

SMS fault notification

For early fire detection with automatic alarm forwarding a fault notification via SMS, e.g. to fire department and responsible persons is possbible.
